The concrete takeaways I have for other families going through this are pretty straightforward. First, write down exactly what your kid needs the certification for before you look at any sales pages. If it’s just to learn BIM fundamentals while they’re still in college, or budget is a hard limit, Kaarwan is solid enough for that, you don’t need to overspend. Have your kid complete one full module from each so they can see what the pacing and content actually feels like. Third, always ask for 2 or 3 sample portfolios from recent graduates of the course you’re looking at — that tells you more than any brochure what you’ll walk away with.
Aryan ended up signing up for Novatr last week. He’s already working on his first full project, and last night he showed me a coordination clash he fixed that his instructor said was exactly the kind of problem solving hiring managers look for in new hires. We still don’t know if it’ll land him a full-time job six months from now, and I do still wince a little when I think about the price tag.
