If they like building things, have them sketch a treehouse, then have AI sketch one, and talk about what’s different. It takes 15 minutes, and it makes the point way better than any lecture.

I told her what I tell all kids who ask if their dream is obsolete: When I was in college, everyone said the internet would put journalists out of work, because anyone could post their writing for free. What actually happened was that the journalists who succeeded didn’t waste time competing with the thousands of free posts online. They learned to use the internet to find sources faster, so they could spend more time talking to people and getting stories no one else had. It’s the same with AI. It’s just small, daily habits: Use the tool to cut out the work that doesn’t matter, pay attention to the things the tool can’t see, and always document what you add that no one else can.
