Social Skills and the Human Connection
Critics of phones argue they harm social development, and they’re not wrong. But AI could take this further. Imagine classrooms where students interact more with chatbots than classmates. Group projects might involve prompting AI tools instead of debating ideas. Even teacher-student relationships could suffer if AI grading systems or feedback generators replace personalized guidance.
Human teachers do more than deliver facts—they inspire, challenge, and adapt to students’ emotional needs. Over time, reliance on AI could erode the mentorship and collaboration that make education meaningful.
What’s the Solution?
Banning AI in schools isn’t realistic (or wise). The goal should be to teach responsible use. Here’s how:
